PHOENIX — The playoffs are now in full swing on the 35th season of Friday Night Fever, Arizona's No. 1 and longest-running high school football show!
The playoffs began on Friday night in the big-school conferences — 6A, 5A and 4A — and continued with the quarterfinals in the small-school conferences — 3A and 2A. The playoffs will begin next week in the Open Division, which is made up of the top eight schools from 5A and 6A. The 2024 state champion will be crowned in 1A on Saturday.
Without further ado, let's take a look at all of the highlights from this week of Friday Night Fever, starting with the 6A playoffs.
6A Playoffs
No. 1 Brophy defeats No. 16 Boulder Creek, 54-0
The Brophy Broncos took care of business in the first round of the 6A playoffs and now move on to the quarterfinals where they will play No. 8 Perry.
No. 8 Perry defeats No. 9 Chandler, 27-24
No. 8 Perry beat No. 9 Chandler for the second time this season (and just the second time ever) and now will head to the 6A quarterfinals to face No. 1 Brophy.
No. 5 Salpointe Catholic defeats No. 12 Williams Field, 31-28
No. 5 Salpointe defended their home turf down in Tucson and eliminated No. 12 Williams Field from the 6A playoffs. Salpointe will face No. 4 Mountain View in the quarterfinals.
No. 14 Centennial upsets No. 3 Red Mountain, 21-7
No. 14 Centennial pulled the shocker of the night by upsetting No. 3 Red Mountain in the first round of the 6A playoffs. The Coyotes will face No. 11 Casteel in the quarterfinals.
No. 11 Casteel upsets No. 6 Highland, 29-27
No. 11 Casteel is now headed to the 6A quarterfinals to face No. 14 Centennial after upsetting No. 6 Highland in the first round of the playoffs.
No. 7 Pinnacle defeats No. 10 Mountain Pointe, 46-7
No. 7 Pinnacle routed No. 10 Mountain Pointe in the first round of the 6A playoffs and now the Pioneers will head to the quarterfinals to play No. 2 Queen Creek.
No. 2 Queen Creek defeats No. 15 O'Connor, 42-28
The No. 2 Queen Creek Bulldogs are headed to the 6A quarterfinals after eliminating No. 15 O'Connor. Queen Creek will face No. 7 Pinnacle in the next round.

5A Playoffs
No. 1 ALA-Gilbert North defeats No. 16 Barry Goldwater, 49-21
No. 1 ALA-Gilbert North will move on to the 5A quarterfinals after beating No. 16 Goldwater in the first round. The Eagles will face No. 8 Campo Verde in the next round.
No. 4 Cactus defeats No. 13 Mountain View Marana, 42-13
No. 4 Cactus will continue their 2024 playoff run after taking down No. 13 Mountain View Marana in the first round of the 5A playoffs. The Cobras will face No. 12 Raymond S. Kellis in the quarterfinals.
No. 6 Verrado defeats No. 11 Notre Dame Prep and No. 7 Desert Edge defeats No. 10 Cactus Shadows
No. 6 Verrado beat No. 11 Notre Dame Prep, 17-14, and will face No. 3 Buena in the quarterfinals and No. 7 Desert Edge beat No. 10 Cactus Shadows 42-19 and will face No. 2 Tucson in the quarterfinals. 12Sports journalist Jake Garcia has the highlights from both games.

4A Playoffs
No. 2 AZ College Prep defeats No. 15 Estrella Foothills, 37-14
No. 2 AZ College Prep is headed to the 4A quarterfinals to face region rival Arcadia after beating No. 15 Estrella Foothills in the first round.
No. 7 Arcadia defeats No. 10 Seton Catholic Prep, 34-30
No. 7 Arcadia earned a rematch with No. 2 AZ College Prep in the 4A quarterfinals after a close win over No. 10 Seton Catholic Prep in the first round.
No. 5 Thunderbird defeats No. 12 Bradshaw Mountain, 49-20
The Thunderbird Titans are headed to the 4A quarterfinals to play No. 4 Mica Mountain after beating Bradshaw Mountain in the first round.
No. 6 Prescott defeats No. 11 Vista Grande, 42-20
No. 6 Prescott has a date with undefeated No. 3 Snowflake in the 4A quarterfinals after taking down No. 11 Vista Grande in the first round.
No. 9 Walden Grove upsets No. 8 Northwest Christian, 30-20
In the lone upset of the first round of the 4A playoffs, No. 9 Walden Grove beat No. 8 Northwest Christian and will face No. 1 Yuma Catholic in the quarterfinals.

3A Playoffs
No. 1 Benjamin Franklin defeats No. 8 ALA-Ironwood, 33-26
No. 1 Benjamin Franklin survived and advanced to the semifinals of the 3A playoffs after beating No. 8 ALA-Ironwood in the quarterfinals. The Chargers will face No. 4 Pusch Ridge in the next round.

2A Playoffs
No. 12 Scottsdale Christian defeats No. 13 Veritas Prep, 26-24
No. 12 Scottsdale Christian kept their hopes of back-to-back 2A state championships alive after winning a close game against No. 13 Veritas Prep in the 2A quarterfinals. The Eagles will face No. 1 San Tan Charter in the semifinals.
