3A high school football playoffs: Here are the teams that advanced to the semifinals

The playoffs continued on Friday for Arizona's small-school conferences, 3A and 2A. Here's a look at the teams headed to the semifinals in 3A.

PHOENIX — Another round of playoff action has now come to a close on the 35th season of Friday Night Fever, Arizona's No. 1 and longest-running high school football show. 

On Friday night, the playoffs began in 6A, 5A and 4A and continued with the quarterfinals in 3A and 2A. The playoffs begin for the Open Division next week and the 1A state champion will be crowned on Saturday.  

In this article, we'll take a look at the results from the quarterfinals of the 3A playoffs and preview the matchups for the semifinals. 

3A Playoffs Quarterfinal Scores

  • No. 1 Benjamin Franklin defeated No. 8 ALA-Ironwood, 33-26 
  • No. 2 ALA-West Foothills defeated No. 10 Round Valley, 28-6
  • No. 3 Thatcher defeated No. 6 Florence, 38-9
  • No. 4 Pusch Ridge defeated No. 12 Paradise Honors, 38-6

3A Playoffs Semifinal Matchups

  • No. 1 Benjamin Franklin vs. No. 4 Pusch Ridge
  • No. 2 ALA-West Foothills vs. No. 3 Thatcher

No. 1 Ben Franklin will face No. 4 Pusch Ridge and No. 3 Thatcher will face No. 2 ALA-West Foothills in the 3A semifinals.

The two semifinal games will be played on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Mesa High School. 

The 3A State Championship Game will be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale. The game had previously been scheduled to be played at Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee but had to be moved due to a conflict with the Open Division semifinals. 

There will be a new state champion in 3A this year as last year's state champion, Sabino, failed to advance to the playoffs this year.
