SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Hayden Lobos' quest for back-to-back 1A state championships will continue as the Lobos advanced to the state title game on Friday night. They learned who their opponent will be on Saturday.
Hayden, the No. 1 seed in 1A after finishing with an undefeated 9-0 record in the regular season, defeated No. 4 St. David in the semifinals, 53-6, on Friday at Coronado High School in Scottsdale.

Bagdad, the No. 2 seed in 1A after finishing 8-1 in the regular season, defeated Mogollon 48-26 in the semifinals on Saturday at Coronado High School.
This sets up a rematch from Week 3 of this season, when Hayden defeated Bagdad, 30-20.
Bagdad has not won a 1A state title since 2016, when they defeated Williams, 60-6.
If Hayden wins the state championship next week, it would be the school's third-ever state title in football. Along with last year's championship, Hayden won a Division B state championship in 1972. The Lobos lost in the state championship in 2018 (to Superior, 70-20) and 1988 (to Thatcher, 20-6).
The 2024 1A State Championship Game will be played next Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at Coronado High School.
