PHOENIX — Monsoon moisture moved into the Valley on Wednesday evening and storms caused severe damage in west Phoenix.

Thursday:
6:40 a.m.
Recovery efforts for a missing worker are underway again.
Thousands of Valley residents were left without power after storms damaged APS powerlines.
5:30 a.m.
Recovery efforts for a worker missing after a warehouse collapse in west Phoenix are set to resume Thursday morning. Crews are still concerned about more of the building falling in, even as cleanup efforts resume on the less-damaged side.
Wednesday:
9:52 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Chandler, Mesa and Gilbert until 10:30 p.m. Winds up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail is possible.
9:45 p.m.
Storms in west Phoenix caused a roof to collapse at a commercial building. Employees told first responders one worker is unaccounted for.
9:30 p.m.
Tree limbs are down and emergency vehicles are near Van Buren Street and 51st Avenue for reports of a damaged building.
9:15 p.m.
SRP reports more than 19,000 customers are without power in the West Valley. Check the status of SRP power outages here.
Service is expected to be restored anytime between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., according to the website.

9 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria until 9:30 p.m. There are winds up to 70 mph in the storm west of downtown and anyone in the area should seek shelter, the NWS said.
8:11 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Glendale, Peoria and Sun City until 9 p.m. Winds could gust up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail is possible.
7:50 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Apache Junction and Gold Canyon until 8:15 p.m.
6 p.m.
Storms to the east of Phoenix have created outflow boundaries, one from the northeast and one from the southeast, according to the National Weather Service. The one from the northeast is expected to impact Phoenix with winds up to 35 mph.
4 p.m.
A Weather Impact Alert has been issued for the second half of the day, Wednesday, because of a Blowing Dust Advisory across parts of the Valley. The advisory is in effect from 4 until 9 p.m. It includes the Southeast Valley, Queen Creek, South Mountain, Ahwatukee and parts of Pinal County, stretching to Tucson.
Visibility could drop to as low as 1/4 of a mile during the busiest parts of the evening commute. It's best to avoid driving in a dust storm. If you get caught in one, pull off the road, turn off lights, set the emergency brake, take your foot off the brake and then make sure tail lights are not illuminated.
Isolated storms could fire up around the Valley late Wednesday, from Rim Country. The higher terrain has the best chances with storms and some could turn severe. Storm risks include gusty winds, blowing dust, heavy rain and lightning.
