APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — Update: Peoria man indicted for murder in crash that killed mother, injured daughter in Apache Junction

A woman is dead and her 7-year-old daughter is in the hospital after a wrong-way crash on US 60 in Apache Junction, authorities said.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety began receiving numerous phone calls regarding a blue pickup truck driving "all over the road" on US 60, including traveling the wrong way on the road.

Shortly after, the driver of the truck, later identified as Adam Parker of Peoria, struck an SUV near Gold Field Road, authorities said. Parker was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries.

The car that was hit was driven by 28-year-old Elizabeth McAloon of Apache Junction. McAloon's 7-year-old daughter was in the car with her.

Both the McAloon and her daughter were taken to trauma centers with serious injuries. McAloon was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her daughter is still hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Parker's blood alcohol content was .263, which was checked with a blood draw at the hospital, according to court paperwork. He had open containers of alcohol in the vehicle and had two prior DUI convictions, documents said.

Parker is facing charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, child abuse and circumstance to cause death or serious injury, DPS said. He has been given a $250,000 bond.
