WITTMANN, Ariz. — One person has died and two others were hospitalized with serious injuries in a crash near Wittman, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
DPS said the two-vehicle crash happened at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday near U.S. 60 and Dove Valley Road.
A Dodge pickup truck hauling a trailer with two horses was traveling east on US 60 when it collided with a red Nissan Titan pickup truck at the intersection of Center Street.
A passenger in the Nissan Titan died at the scene. The deceased person has been identified as 64-year-old Mary Ellen Frankum of Wittmann.
Two other people in the Nissan Titan sustained serious injuries.
DPS said the incident is under investigation for possible DUI. The horses in the trailer were turned over to another party.

How big is Maricopa County?
Maricopa County is the United States’ 4th largest county in terms of population with 4,485,414 people, according to the 2020 Census.
The county contains around 63% of Arizona’s population and is 9,224 square miles. That makes the county larger than seven U.S. states (Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New Hampshire).
One of the largest park systems in the nation is also located in Maricopa County. The county has an estimated 120,000 acres of open space parks that includes hundreds of miles of trails, nature centers and campgrounds.
