PHOENIX — The accolades continue to roll in for the special teams unit of the Arizona Cardinals.
Fresh off of Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland earning NFC Special Teams Player of the Month honors, the team announced Wednesday that punter Blake Gillikin earned the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
His stellar performance in Arizona's 29-9 victory over the Chicago Bears won him the honor.
Gillikin's work in the recent win over the Bears included punting four times for 187 yards with three landing inside the 20-yard line. This is his first career selection as Special Teams Player of the Week and he becomes the third punter in Cardinals history to earn Special Teams Player of the Week.
The other two punters were Ben Graham in 2009 and Jeff Feagles in 1995.
On 29 total punts this season, Gillikin has 13 punts landed inside the 20-yard line and just one touchback.
