PHOENIX — After some incredible October performances, Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland is getting the national recognition he deserves.

The Cardinals kicker was announced by the team on Thursday as the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

Ryland was brought in at the beginning of October to replace the injured Matt Prater and immediately made his presence known. He ended the month with three game-winning field goals in four games with Arizona.

He became the third player in NFL history to have three game-winning FGs in the fourth quarter/OT in their first four games with a team. Chris Jacke in 1998 with the Cardinals and Stephen Gostkowski in 2020 with the Titans were the other two.

Ryland is the first Cardinals selection for “Player of the Month” since safety Budda Baker won the defensive award in 2020. He is also the first “Special Teams Player of the Month” since kicker Zane Gonzalez earned the award in October 2019.
