Truck involved in fatal hit-and-run of jogger in New River belongs to law enforcement official, was being driven by relative, officials say

The officer was not involved in the crash and has been cooperative, according to the sheriff's office.

NEW RIVER, Ariz. — The vehicle that struck and killed a jogger in New River over the weekend belongs to a member of law enforcement, Maricopa County Sheriff Russ Skinner revealed.

The sheriff's office identified the suspect as a relative of the officer. 

The officer was not involved in the crash and has been cooperative, according to the sheriff's office.

Skinner revealed the new details Tuesday morning during a news conference. He took questions from the media in attendance after his remarks and a reporter inquired about the incident.

“We are working with the County Attorney’s Office. I will tell you we will probably have an arrest sometime in the near future,” Skinner said. “The owner of the vehicle did come forward. We were also working angles of information.”

43-year-old Lisa Mancuso was jogging in New River near Seventh Avenue and Cloud Road on Saturday morning when she was hit and killed. She was reportedly hit by a gray four-door Ford F250 with a long bed and black toolbox.
