NEW RIVER, Ariz. — A woman went out for a jog in New River on Saturday but never made it home after being hit by a car and killed, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
The woman, identified on Sunday as 43-year-old Lisa Mancuso, was jogging on the shoulder of the road near Seventh Avenue and Cloud Road around 10 a.m. on Saturday when she was hit by a gray four-door Ford F250 with a long bed and black toolbox. The truck also has damage to the front left headlight and to the body of the car above the wheel on the passenger side.
Mancuso died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Ford F250 did not stop and drove away headed east on Cloud Road. However, they turned around and came back to the scene of the crash but made a U-turn and drove away again after witnesses tried to stop the truck.
Deputies found the truck Saturday evening, but they did not find the driver. On Sunday, MCSO released a picture of the truck in the hopes that someone may know the driver. That picture is below.
Right now, MCSO is still working on leads to determine who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash and to learn what led up to them hitting Mancuso.
MCSO said they do not yet know whether speed, alcohol or distraction were factors in the crash.
Detectives from the MCSO Vehicular Crimes division are investigating this collision and are asking for anyone with information and/or surveillance video of the truck on Saturday to reach out to them.
MCSO can be reached at their non-emergency line, which is (602) 876-1011, or through their crime tip line, which is (602) 876-TIPS (8477). You can also submit a tip online by clicking here. Tips can be submitted anonymously. Anyone reporting a tip needs to reference Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Report IR24-004755.
Cloud Road was closed between Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street as the hit-and-run was investigated but re-opened around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
