PHOENIX — Rural Metro Fire, the agency providing emergency services to unincorporated areas of Arizona, has recently been sold to a company in Alabama.
Global Medical Response, parent company of Rural Metro, recently announced that the fire agency had been acquired by Brindlee Fire Services.
“We carefully considered a number of options as we searched for an organization that would be the best home for Rural Metro Fire, and we are confident that Brindlee Fire Services’ unique structure and focus on supporting communities and fire departments alike makes them the right choice," Global Medical Response CEO Nick Loporcaro said in a statement.
Rural Metro started offering fire services in the suburbs of Phoenix in the 1950s. The private provider focused on offering assistance in areas of Arizona located outside the jurisdictions of municipal fire departments.
Global Medical said during the transition process with Brindlee, Rural Metro Fire will be focused on fire services, limiting its medical transportation operations to Yuma and Columbus.
“This transaction marks the beginning of a new Rural Metro Fire, and we are looking forward to continuing to provide exemplary fire services to the communities we serve,” Rural Metro Fire Chief Mike Ragone said in a statement.
