PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a man shot and killed during a confrontation with officers on June 2 was armed with a gun and fired a shot at the officers.
In a video released Friday, officials played a 911 call from a woman who said a man with a gun was trying to take her boyfriend's motorcycle. The woman explains in the call that she is in a car with her son in an alley and a man, later identified as 27-year-old Joshua Main, was pointing the gun at her boyfriend.
According to police, when officers arrived in the area of 13th Street and Palm Lane they found a man matching the suspect's description sitting on a motorcycle and holding a gun. When officers got out of their patrol cars to confront Main, they say he pointed the gun at officers.
Two officers fired at Main, killing him.
The bodycam footage from the incident does not include audio of the shooting or the moments leading up to the shooting due to a 60-second delay in the start of audio recording, police say.
