PHOENIX — The fire that damaged multiple homes in a Phoenix housing development is being investigated as a possible arson, the city's police department said.
Just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday, crews from the Phoenix Fire Department were sent to a scene near 59th Avenue and Baseline Road for reports of a structure fire.
As fire crews arrived, they found several homes under construction engulfed in flames inside a new housing development. Officials said the incident reached a second alarm with more than 75 firefighters battling the flames.
No injuries were reported, and firefighters remained on the scene throughout the night to make sure all remaining hotspots were extinguished, Phoenix Fire said.
In a Silent Witness flyer posted on "X," formerly known as Twitter, the fire was described as "suspicious" and may be an arson. Investigators are seeking information about the incident.
