BUCKEYE, Ariz. — The school resource officer of Verrado High School has been put on administrative leave after he was arrested Monday night for domestic violence-related charges.
The Buckeye Police Department said Officer David Ellison was arrested by Goodyear police after an incident involving the officer's family member.
Court records show the family member told police Ellison allegedly struck their face and squeezed their neck until they "could not breath."
Police submitted misdemeanor charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
"These allegations are troubling and do not align with our core values of integrity, safety, respect and compassion," Buckeye police wrote in a statement.
Buckeye police will assign another officer to take over Ellison's duties at Verrado High School.
