FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The snow that moved into Arizona on Black Friday has moved out, but not before leaving some impressive totals behind!

According to the National Weather Service, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon saw the most flakes fall as eight inches of snow was recorded at the entrance station as of 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bright Angel Ranger Station in Grand Canyon National Park saw four inches, as did the Hart Prairie Preserve.

The Arizona Snowbowl, which is just a couple of miles away from Hart Prairie, reported this morning that they received five inches of snow between 5 a.m. on Friday and 5 a.m. on Saturday.

Other Snow Totals

  • Tsaile: 3.4 inches
  • Fort Valley: 2.2 inches
  • The National Weather Service office in Bellemont: 1.4 inches
  • Forest Lakes: 1.0 inches
  • Nutrioso: 1.0 inches
  • Flagstaff Airport: 0.9 inches

=================================

It turned out to be a snowy day at the Arizona Snowbowl on the day after Thanksgiving. The Snowbowl's live cameras show a lot more snow on the ground compared to their opening day on Nov. 17.

In fact, at around 2 p.m., it was hard to see anything on the live cameras but a wall of white as the snow fell Friday. The National Weather Service said the snow will continue to fall through Saturday, especially in the higher elevations.

Snow began falling at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport Friday, marking the first measurable snowfall for the region. There has been traces of snow that fell earlier this month, but nothing measurable. In all, the region is expecting 2-6” of snow above 8000’ Friday night.

Snowbowl officials are also expecting more snow for the slopes in the coming days.

"OpenSnow is forecasting up to 4 inches of snowfall throughout the next two days and the Arizona Gondola will be open today through Sunday with access to the advanced trail, Upper Ridge," Snowbowl officials said on their website.

The Arizona Department of Transportation also reports a dusting of snow along I-40.

Six trails are now open at the Snowbowl and officials said snowmakers are taking advantage of the colder weather to get more open in the near future.
