AVONDALE, Ariz. — A 26-year-old man is facing a murder charge after an argument over a barking dog ended in gun violence.
Socorro Tena was arrested on Nov. 25 after he allegedly admitted to shooting someone in Avondale during a verbal fight over his dog, court records show.
Officials said the victim was the suspect's brother-in-law.
A witness told investigators the victim had just gotten home from taking his children to see Santa Claus when they heard the suspect's dog barking, records show.
The victim confronted the suspect about the dog. The witness reported hearing a gunshot and allegedly found the suspect standing over the wounded victim.
The injured man died from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Tena allegedly confessed to shooting the victim, claiming he fired his gun after he thought the victim was going to punch him, records show.
Tena is facing criminal charges of second-degree murder and disorderly conduct.
