PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — A Pima County Deputy who was shot in the line of duty last week was released from the hospital over the weekend.

The deputy was injured in Casas Adobes, north of Tucson, on Thursday while the sheriff's department was responding to a domestic violence call.

Tucson NBC affiliate KVOA reports that Deputy Leonardo Wells is heading to rehab following his hospital release.

On Saturday, the sheriff's department posted a video of the deputy's release on Facebook Watch.

Wells was greeted by dozens of well-wishers and a parade of patrol cars as he was wheeled out of the hospital with his left leg heavily bandaged.

"We want to thank the community and our law enforcement partners for their support. Please keep both of the deputies that were injured in the shooting in your thoughts and prayers," the sheriff's office said in the Facebook post.
