COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. — One of the Cochise County supervisors who delayed certifying the results of Arizona's 2022 election has pleaded guilty to a Class 3 misdemeanor offense.

Supervisor Peggy Judd, a Republican from Willcox, pleaded guilty Monday morning to the offense of failing to perform duties of an election officer, the Arizona Attorney General's Office said.

Judd will be sentenced to unsupervised probation for not less than 90 days and will pay a $500 fine, the attorney general said.

"Any attempt to interfere with elections in Arizona will not be tolerated. My office will continue to pursue justice and ensure that anyone who undermines our electoral system is held accountable,” Attorney General Kris Mayes said in a statement.

Judd and Supervisor Tom Crosby were indicted last year with felony offenses after they initially refused to certify their county's election results. Judd later voted with Democrat Ann English to certify the results after a judge ordered them to do so, ruling that the county board had "exceeded its lawful authority."

The 2022 election results were met with several contentious lawsuits and unsubstantiated allegations of wrongdoing after multiple Democrats — including Kris Mayes — won competitive statewide races.
