Woman accidentally shot in apparent drive-by shooting in Phoenix, police say

The woman was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

PHOENIX — A woman was injured after she was accidentally shot during an apparent drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning, police said. 

The Phoenix Police Department said officers responded to the area of 33rd Avenue and Roosevelt Street around 1:30 a.m. for a shooting and found a woman with a gunshot injury. 

The woman was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. 

Police said she was driving on Roosevelt Street at 35th Avenue when suspects in an unknown vehicle began shooting at another vehicle. 

One of those shots struck the woman, police said. Evidence of a shooting was found on Roosevelt Street, police said. 

No one else was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
