2 more teens indicted in East Valley teen violence investigations

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — Two more teens have been indicted in connection with ongoing teen violence investigations in the East Valley, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said Tyler Allen Freeman, 17, and William Owen Hines, 18, are facing charges in connection with an assault at a party that happened on Nov. 22, 2022.

Hines was also indicted in a case in which he allegedly harmed someone with a vehicle in a July 2023 incident, and in connection with an assault at an In-N-Out in December 2022.

Mitchell announced the new indictments against the two on Wednesday but did not elaborate further on the details of the assault.

Freeman is facing one count of aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, a Class 3 dangerous felony; one count of aggravated assault, a Class 6 felony; and one count of assault, a Class 3 misdemeanor. 

Freeman is also facing charges connected with other cases in the ongoing teen violence investigations. He has been charged as an adult.

Hines is facing one count of aggravated assault, a Class 6 felony.

Mitchell said these indictments are "independent of the submittals received for the death of 16-year-old Preston Lord."

Arizona's Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities.

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media.

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
