18-year-old Gilbert suspect indicted for 2023 assault involving car

One of the teens recently arrested by Gilbert PD has been indicted for an assault involving a vehicle that occurred last summer.

GILBERT, Ariz. — An 18-year-old man recently arrested by Gilbert police for his alleged involvement in two assaults has now been indicted for a separate offense involving a vehicle.

William Owen Hines was indicted by a Maricopa County grand jury this week for allegedly harming someone with a vehicle on July 6, 2023. The young man has been charged with aggravated assault, a Class 3 dangerous felony.

Hines was served with the grand jury warrant as he was being arrested by Gilbert police this week.

Court records show Gilbert police arrested Hines after connecting him to two assaults: one that occurred outside an In-N-Out on Dec. 2, 2022 and the other occurred at a house party on Nov. 22, 2022.

In an interview with police, Hines allegedly admitted to being present during one of the assaults, records show.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced this week that another individual, 18-year-old Noah Pennington, has also been indicted by a grand jury for an assault involving a firearm that occurred in Gilbert on Dec. 19, 2022.
