17-year-old girl arrested in ongoing investigations into teen violence in East Valley

Gilbert police said this teen has been connected with an alleged assault and robbery case in September 2023 that was previously unreported.

GILBERT, Ariz. — The Gilbert Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old girl in connection with its ongoing investigations into teen violence in the East Valley.

The arrest is the 41st arrest police have made since February 2022 following a series of assaults and other crimes related to a group known as the Gilbert Goons.

Police said this teen has been connected with an alleged assault and robbery case that happened in September 2023 that was previously unreported.

Other details about the incident were not immediately released by police.

The teen is facing the following charges:

  •  Aggravated Robbery
  •  Assault
  •  Disorderly Conduct

Police said the case has been referred to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.

The series of teen violence incidents over the past few years have been brought to the attention of authorities after the recent death of 16-year-old Preston Lord. The high school student was killed last year during a Halloween party in the East Valley.

The investigations are ongoing and indictments and arrests in connection to multiple incidents have spread across several East Valley communities.

Arizona's Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities.

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media.

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
