Suspect in custody after police chase in Phoenix

Around 6 p.m., Phoenix were attempting to stop a reported stolen vehicle near 36th Street and McDowell Road. The vehicle did not stop and fled.

A man who led police on a pursuit in a black SUV throughout Phoenix on Thursday evening was taken into custody by officers.

Around 6 p.m., Phoenix were attempting to stop a reported stolen vehicle near 36th Street and McDowell Road. The vehicle did not stop and fled.

The Phoenix Police Helicopter tracked the suspect and officers from the Special Assignment Unit followed the suspect into an apartment complex near Dunlap Avenue and 35th Avenue. 

Officers saw the suspect running from the vehicle and less lethal means were used to take the suspect into custody, police said.

There are no injuries reported at this time. Phoenix PD's investigation is ongoing.
