PHOENIX — Phoenix police say four suspects are in custody after they allegedly drove around firing a pellet rifle out of a car window at random strangers, killing one person and putting the other in the hospital.
The first shooting happened near Bell Road and 19th Avenue just past 12 a.m. on Wednesday morning when a 38-year-old female was shot while she stood in the drive-through of a fast-food restaurant.
Firefighters transported her to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Police identified the woman on Thursday as Leanne Holum.
The suspects fled and drove near Peoria Avenue and 7th Avenue, where one of the suspects allegedly shot a 17-year-old male who was walking down the sidewalk.
Phoenix Fire personnel transported him with serious injuries to a hospital, where he remains.
Police say the suspects then tried to a carjack a victim near Hatcher Road and 7th Avenue.
The victim refused to give the suspects his vehicle and one of the suspects fired the pellet rifle at the vehicle, shattering the window. The victim did not report a serious injury.
Officers, with the help of the Phoenix Police Helicopter, located and arrested the four suspects near Union Hills Drive and 19th Avenue.
The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Charles Harris, 18-year-old Troy Brunnetti, 19-year-old Larry Scott and 21-year-old Austin Olson.
All four are currently being charged with murder, drive-by shooting, aggravated assault and armed robbery.
All of the suspects admitted to being in the Jeep Cherokee when the crimes occurred, according to court documents.
The documents say the suspects also drove around looking for people to rob and shoot, including homeless people, which went unreported to police.
