SURPRISE, Ariz — Several fifth graders in Surprise have been arrested after threats were allegedly made toward a fellow student, according to the Surprise Police Department.
Police said four students at Legacy Traditional School were arrested. The students admitted to a "plan to carry out an act of violence towards a fellow 5th grade student."

Chief Benny Piña praised the actions of other students in the school.
“This investigation is the result of brave students reporting dangerous activity to their school staff, who quickly involved their assigned School Resource Officer to ensure the safety of the student and school,” said Piña.
The juveniles were taken into custody "without incident" and later released into the custody of their parents.
Police said the following charges will be filed with Maricopa County Juvenile Court for each of the juveniles:
- Threatening, a Class 1 misdemeanor
- Disorderly conduct, a Class 1 misdemeanor
