TUCSON, Ariz. — Two people have now reported to police that a man tried to abduct them near the University of Arizona campus this week, Tucson police officials said.
On Thursday, officials released information about a woman who said she was nearly abducted while she was walking near 8th Street and Mountain Avenue. She told police she noticed a vehicle following her and around 8 p.m., the driver exited the car and grabbed her from behind.
She started screaming and fell to the ground and the man ran back to his car and drove away, the woman told police.
The woman told police the suspect was seen driving a dark blue, four-door car with tinted windows and dents along the front.
On Friday, another victim reached out to police and said something very similar happened to them on Wednesday.
The second victim said they were followed by a man with the same car description at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday, this time near Campbell Avenue and 3rd Street, which is about a mile away from the other abduction attempt. The victim was able to provide investigators with an updated description of the suspect, Tucson police said.
He is described as being possibly Hispanic with a dark complexion, 5'10 to 6' tall with a medium to heavyset build and a buzz cut. The vehicle he was driving was a dark purplish four-door hatchback or crossover vehicle with a dented front bumper, tinted windows and no front license plate.
Investigators from TPD and the University of Arizona Police Department are actively pursuing leads in the case and are urging the public to report any suspicious activity to 911 immediately.
