PHOENIX — A man is recovering after being shot Wednesday morning when he confronted three men who broke into his car, police say.
Phoenix police responded to a shooting call around 4:45 a.m. in a neighborhood near 19th Avenue and the Loop 101.
The homeowner heard noises outside his home and saw the suspects breaking into his car on security video. He went outside to confront them.
One of the suspects pointed a gun at him, and the man pulled out a gun of his own.
There was a struggle over the victim's gun, during which the victim was shot.
The man was able to get away and call for help. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police located all three suspects. Two of them are 16-year-old boys and one is a 19-year-old identified as Jykese Davis.
Davis was arrested and booked for armed robbery and aggravated assault, police said.
