PHOENIX — Two people were pronounced dead after they were found in their cars with gunshot wounds in separate parts of Phoenix.
There is "no information to suggest (the shootings) are related," police said.
The first shooting occurred near Second Avenue and McKinley Street around 5:30 a.m., when a man was pronounced dead after being found with a gunshot wound in a van.
The Phoenix Police Department said officers responded to a shooting and found the unidentified man in a van with a gunshot injury.
Phoenix Fire crews responded and pronounced the man dead on scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
The intersection of Second Avenue and McKinley Street is closed.
Officers found another grisly scene when they responded to a shooting in the area of 16th Street and Morten Avenue just after 5:30 a.m.
A 57-year-old woman was found in a vehicle in the parking garage with a gunshot injury. The woman was later identified as Linda Meyer.
Fire crews arrived on scene and pronounced the woman dead.
Meyer and the suspect, who was later identified as 64-year-old Stanley Justice, were in a relationship.
Justice was found in a wooded area in Williamson County, Tennessee, with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot on April 8.
The investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on either shooting to call police or to remain anonymous, call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
