Man arrested for thefts at election tabulation center and Arizona State Capitol now connected to theft at Phoenix Art Museum

PHOENIX — A man arrested in connection to thefts at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center and the Arizona State Capitol is now also facing charges in connection to a third theft at the Phoenix Art Museum, authorities say.

Walter Ringfield, 27, is facing a charge of theft of control property for an incident that happened at the museum back in May, according to court documents.

Officials said on May 20, $9,500 worth of vintage jewelry was stolen from the museum during a private event. The items were taken from mannequins being used in an exhibit in the Orne Lewis Gallery.

The theft was noticed two days later after staff noticed the jewelry missing from the mannequins. Security footage showed a man later identified as Ringfield remove the items from the mannequins.

In a statement, the museum said all of the stolen items were recovered and returned in good condition.

"We are deeply grateful to all the law enforcement officials who worked on this case for their efforts in helping us restore these items to the Museum," the museum said.

Ringfield is also facing charges of theft and criminal damage following the theft of a digital key at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center on June 25. Officials said the missing digital key was discovered during a routine inventory check. The theft happened while Ringfield was a temporary employee at the center.

Additionally, Ringfield has also been connected to a theft at the Arizona State Capitol in also in June. Video of the incident was released on the GOP's "X" page. During the June 15, challenge coins and desk accessories from a security staff member’s desk during the incident. Ringfield's residence in Phoenix was searched and the stolen items were recovered, according to officials.
