Elderly man killed in Apache Junction, police say

A suspect was taken into custody nearby, police said.

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — An elderly man is dead and the person suspected of killing him is in custody in Apache Junction, police said. 

Apache Junction police received a call about the homicide, which happened near N. Palo Verde Drive and Apache Trail, at 4:30 p.m.

Officers quickly took a suspect into custody nearby, police said.

No other details were released and neither the victim nor suspect was identified. It is also not known how the man was killed. Apache Junction police said they will have more updates soon.
