SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Two of the three domestic violence charges against former Cardinals safety and front office executive Adrian Wilson have been dropped following a court hearing on Tuesday. The third has been deferred for the time being.

Wilson was arrested earlier this summer following reports of a domestic disturbance between him and his wife. After the arrest, Wilson faced charges of assault, criminal property damage and disorderly conduct.

The assault and property damage charges were dismissed, court records show. Wilson entered a diversion agreement regarding the disorderly conduct charge and expects it to be dismissed as well, according to a statement posted to social media.

"Yesterday, after several long months, I appeared before a City of Scottsdale judge to address charges resulting from a verbal dispute between my wife, Alicia, and me," the statement read in part. "After learning there was absolutely no physical altercation, two of the three misdemeanor charges filed by the Scottsdale City Attorney's Office, were dismissed."

Police officers were dispatched to reports of a disturbance on the morning of June 1 and learned Wilson had allegedly gotten into a fight that involved him throwing and breaking items, according to a police report. After retrieving a firearm from a safe, Wilson allegedly left the residence and drove around for a while.

According to the police report, Wilson eventually came back to the residence, placed the gun in the garage and spoke to police officers about personal problems he had been having. He was then placed under arrest and taken to the Scottsdale jail.

Wilson appeared before the court on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for a hearing.

"With the hearing behind me, I can now begin the process of healing from this very unfortunate incident and the embarrassment it has brought to my family and me. I deeply regret my actions on June 1 and recommit to being a better person and father," Wilson said in the statement.
