GLENDALE, Ariz. — A 2-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday night after alleged child abuse from his own mother left him unconscious, according to police.

The Glendale Police Department got a call of an unconscious child inside an apartment complex near 75th Avenue and Cactus Road.

The boy’s mom, 25-year-old Raejene Dixon, was arrested as a suspect after doctors noticed the boy had suffered major injuries across his body.

Doctors found liver lacerations, multiple spine and rib fractures, abdominal bleeding, and facial bruising on the 2-year-old.

The boy was originally transported to a Glendale hospital, but his injuries were so severe that he needed to be airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He is there currently, still in extremely critical condition.

Dixon’s boyfriend, 28-year-old Javonte Digs, told police she had been severely disciplining her son for weeks, and he says he’s had to intervene before when he felt it was getting out of hand.

Investigators say Dixon gave birth to another child in April. Digs claims she’s been extremely frustrated with her 2-year-old since the newborn came home.

Dixon has been charged with one count of child abuse.
