This Great Horned Owl was spotted in the wild at Lyman Lake State Park. As Arizona's largest species of owl, they make a striking sight even in the dark.

He may look a bit like a Great Horned Owl, but Archimedes with the Phoenix Zoo is the only owl on this list not native to Arizona. He's a Eurasian Eagle-owl, which is one of the largest species in the world. Here, he's beating the Arizona heat with a nice garden hose shower.
