Arizona to see some weather changes in coming days

In an effort to track the weather changes across the Valley and Arizona, 12 News started this live blog.

ARIZONA, USA — 12 News' meteorologists are predicting strong winds, plummeting temperatures and rain in the lower Arizona deserts through Monday.

A deep trough and low pressure will be bringing drastic changes to the Valley soon, including chances for isolated thunderstorms and high winds.

12 News will use this platform to keep tabs on changing weather. 

Weather predictions:

  • Temperatures will continue to fall on Sunday, ending up in the 60s around the Lower Deserts and the 40s and 50s around the High Country.
  • The Valley will be breezy at 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 mph at times, with winds in the High Country remaining strong at 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph.
  • Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will weaken this evening leaving us with mainly dry weather overnight.

FULL DAILY FORECAST: Winter storm hitting Arizona this weekend

8:40 a.m.

Four inches of snow falls in Grand Canyon Village overnight.

6 a.m. 

Flagstaff schools will have a two-hour delay due to weather.

"Due to the current winter weather conditions, all schools of the Flagstaff Unified School District will be on a two-hour delayed start today, Monday, November 9, 2020," the district said on its website.  

"The delayed start means that all schools will begin remote learning two hours after their normal start time and release according to the regular full day dismissal times that occur on Mondays.  Information will be posted on school websites regarding alternative schedules."

5:15 a.m. 

Rain continues to move across Pinal and Pima counties.

4:40 a.m. 

Tucson International Airport records first measurable rainfall since August.

4:30 a.m. 

Radar shows large area of snow showers across northeast Arizona.

3:25 a.m. 

Scattered showers continue near Tucson.

Monday: 

All Blue Ridge Unified School District schools will be online-only Monday due to weather.

8:46 p.m.

ADOT tweeted that the snow is now falling hard on I-40 in Flagstaff. 

6:58 p.m. 

The National Weather Service reported that there are showers west and north of Phoenix. The bulk of the rain will come in the next couple of hours, according to their radar. 

5:17 p.m. 

The National Weather Service has released the expected snow totals for the rest of the night. 

4:41 p.m.

Flagstaff is expecting the snow to begin affecting driving conditions after the sun goes down. Watch the pattern on the radar from the National Weather Service in Flagstaff.
