PHOENIX — It's cold in Phoenix and it's snowing in Flagstaff.
A storm system that originated in the Pacific Northwest is delivering mountain snow, Valley rain and a sharp temperature drop to State 48.
Many locations will fall into the single digits and teens across the high country, while lows in the 40s around Phoenix will be common.
Temperatures will return to the 70s for highs in Phoenix by the weekend.
How much rain/snow?
Precipitation will start to taper off in Flagstaff after 2 p.m. on Thursday, but it could linger until about 5 p.m. along the rim and even later into the evening for the White Mountains.
Snow levels will drop to 4,000 feet where a dusting will be possible. Around 5,000 feet we will pick up 1-3 inches of snow, but above 6,000 feet, 4-8 inches will be possible. The White Mountains, San Francisco Peaks, the Chuska's, and areas near Jacob Lake will see the highest snow totals.
