How do we really know it's humid here in Phoenix?
I tell everybody it's easy -- you just have to go by the dew point.
I usually don't pay any attention to the humidity. The humidity goes up-and-down throughout the day depending on temperature.
As the air warms up, it expands and it can hold more water, so therefore the humidity goes down. As the air cools at night, it condenses and can hold less water so the humidity goes up.
So the best thing you can do is go by the dew point.
Here is an easy rule: Anytime we have a dew point of 55 degrees or highe,r it's considered humid. A dew point in the 60s and 70s is considered oppressive.
So next time it feels steamy outside, check the dew point. It's as easy as that.
