Hottest day in Phoenix history happened 25 years ago

One of the most popular questions I get about Phoenix weather is, "what is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Phoenix?"
Phoenix Heat

On this day in 1990, Phoenix recorded the hottest temperature ever measured here: 122 blazing hot degrees. Some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded here in the Valley were set in late June.

Typically, when the humidity arrives in the region and the monsoon really starts to pick up our temperatures tend to drop down.

RELATED STORY: What else was hot during record-setting heat of 1990?

In July our temperatures usually come down. But even during the monsoon we can enter dry periods where the temperatures can escalate back up again. Such as July 28, 1995, when the temperature soared all the way to 121°.

After July our temperatures slowly start to creep back down until we make it into late October, when some of the best weather in the nation starts right here in Phoenix!
