Car batteries and Arizona heat

Car batteries do not last as long here in Phoenix because of the heat.
Car Batteries

Since moving to Phoenix in 2008, I've gone through at least three car batteries. The first time this happened I honestly thought that my car battery was just a bit old.

The second time I thought that maybe the battery was a bit on the defective side.

But the third time I realized it had something to do with the weather. And why not? You know that it can get extremely hot here during the summer months.

The extreme temperatures can do a tremendous amount of damage to your car's battery.

The heat can cause the life of your battery to go way down. I find that if you park your car in the daytime heat without any protection from the sun your car battery will not last nearly as long as if your car is parked in the shade. My advice is to always get the warranty that comes with the battery. I always try to get at least a two year battery.

And remember, if you have problems starting your car, or it seems as if your electrical system might be going out, it may not be any type of a major problem with your car. It just might be an early indication that your car battery is about to go.

I always go by one of the local auto stores and many of them will check out the life of your battery for free and give you good advice as to whether you need to change out your battery or not. Good luck and try to always keep your car parked in the shade.
