Storm chances on the rise across Arizona Tuesday afternoon | Weather Impact Alert

Moisture is moving into the state, increasing the chances for storms and heavy downpours in parts of the state.

PHOENIX — If you're going to be out and about around the Phoenix area on Tuesday afternoon, be sure to keep your umbrella and raincoat handy.

A large portion of moisture is making its way through Arizona, bringing with it a high probability of afternoon showers in the High Country and the Valley respectively.

Residents dealt with increased humidity and high temperatures near 110 degrees for most of the day and chances for monsoon storms are on the rise. 12News meteorologists said thunderstorm chances will be confined to the Arizona high terrain at first, before spreading west.

Rain and thunderstorm chances will then become fairly widespread across the lower deserts, with strong winds and blowing dust a good possibility.

FORECAST: Will we see severe storms in the Valley Tuesday?

RADAR: Track current weather conditions in your neighborhood

The National Weather Service said the timing for storms in the lower desert should be between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. Severe wind gusts, blowing dust and heavy rainfall leading to localized flooding can be expected with these potential storms.

Stay tuned to 12News for updates on weather conditions. We will be tracking any weather developments across the state throughout the afternoon and evening.
