YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — The National Weather Service in Flagstaff issued a tornado warning for a storm moving over Yavapai County on Saturday.
The NWS said radar saw rotation in a thunderstorm that was capable of producing a tornado and quarter-sized hail at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday.
The warning expired at 7:45 p.m. but the NWS said large hail and damaging winds remain likely as there is still a severe thunderstorm warning in the area.
The storm was about 12 miles southwest of Childs Power Plant and 25 miles south of Camp Verde and was moving northwest at 10 miles per hour.
The NWS says people in the area should look out for flying debris and that mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed. They expect damage to roofs, windows and homes in the area, along with damage to trees.
