FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — After more record setting snowfall in Flagstaff, some locals are now having to worry about roof collapses. City and county officials are warning homeowners about the problem.
With sidewalks and rooftops smothered in snow, concerns are surfacing about structural integrity for many who live in the hard-hit area.
In Coconino County, officials provided pictures of damage resulting from all the recent snowfall. They're encouraging people to check structures for any signs of stress.
You should check for the following:
- sagging ceiling tiles
- sprinkler systems off track
- popping or creaking noises
- severe roof leaks
- even split wood
City and county leaders said to exercise major caution when working to remove the snow, as icicles can fall and injure someone.
If you're using a snow rake, watch for signs of snow sliding and try to keep distance from the eaves.
"City or County residents who see any of the signs listed above or feel they have a structural issue due to snow loads can call the City of Flagstaff/ Coconino County joint information line at 928-679-8525," officials said.
