Phoenix metro area could see up to half inch of rain

Central and southern Arizona could see rain Sunday morning through Monday afternoon. Here's what you can expect.

PHOENIX — Rain and cooler temps could be coming your way, Phoenix.

Southern and central Arizona are expected to see scattered fast-moving showers and storms Sunday into Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

While there is less moisture than originally expected, NWS said the storms that do develop could bring strong winds to the Valley, There is also a potential for thunderstorms and blowing dust.

Gila Bend, Casa Grande, Tucson, Phoenix, Wickenburg and Prescott could all see anywhere between 0.1 and 0.5 inches of rain. Globe and Payson could see up to an inch of rain.

There's also a potential for flash flooding and scattered thunderstorms, NWS said. Ponding water and minor roadway flooding could also potentially impact your morning commute.

NWS said the rain is expected Sunday morning through Monday afternoon, with temperatures for the rest of the week possibly dipping into the double digits in the Valley.

Strong winds are also on the table for parts of the Valley, with a 70% chance of gusts 35 mph or more and a 10% chance of gusts 60 mph or more.
