Water in swimming pools and spas is treated with different chemicals to keep organisms from living in it.
When water from a pool or spa is drained into the city's storm drain system, it will eventually reach local creeks, rivers and the ocean. Improper disposal of pool water can cause series damage and even kill animals and plants.
Pool and spa owners need to take steps to keep pollutants out of the storm drain system.
