FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Don't put away your winter gear just yet, Arizonans. A fast paced winter weather system is bringing snow and rain to northern Arizona.
Low clouds, areas of fog and scattered showers are present over most areas Thursday night, while a heavier line of rain and show has developed from Seligman to the Grand Canyon, south of Page, and is moving quickly to the southeast, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain changed to heavy snow at the South Rim and the heaviest snow accumulations are predicted to be at the higher elevations of the Kaibab Plateau and Chuska Mountains. Both areas have winter weather advisories in effect, as well.
The wind chill could get in the low teens in parts of Northern Arizona on Thursday night into Friday morning — Williams and Flagstaff are both expected to have a minimum wind chill of 12 degrees.
If you are driving in the High Country, the Arizona Department of Transportation reminds drivers to use extra caution, drive slowly and pack an emergency travel kit.
