SRP and APS both showed thousands of outages, with the most widespread being in Arcadia and Northern Phoenix.

At least 12,000 Arizonans were without electricity after storms swept throughout the Valley late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

The SRP outage map showed around 10,000 people experiencing power outages around 5 a.m. while the APS outage map showed around 2,000 of their customers were without power.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix reported that damaging winds were coming to the Valley around 11 p.m. and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the Phoenix, Mesa and Chandler areas around 11:30 p.m.

The service also reported another strong thunderstorm system would impact parts of Maricopa County through 1 a.m.

The outages come a day after the state issued a declaration of emergency and made $200,000 of recovery funds available for those affected by the disastrous flooding in Gila Bend.

Two people died, at least 30 were rescued from the rooftops of their homes and over 100 people were displaced from their homes due to the flooding, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

Between one to three inches of rain fell over the Valley the weekend after a bout of heavy monsoon storms.

Multiple flood warnings were issued Saturday into Sunday. That weekend also saw downed power lines from strong winds that caused thousands to go without power.

There were 60,000 lightning flashes across central Arizona from 7 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday, NWS said. A Flash Flood Watch was previously put into effect for south-central Arizona.
