PHOENIX — It's no secret: Phoenix has experienced a very dry monsoon so far this year.
But it's worse than anyone may have originally thought.
According to the National Weather Service, Phoenix has recorded its sixth-driest monsoon to date since 1896.
Between June 15 and Friday, only .27 of an inch of rain has fallen in Phoenix.
2019 has tied with 1994 as the sixth-driest monsoon to date.
The only years with drier monsoons in Phoenix have been 1932, 1991, 1934, 1914 and 1993.
The amount of rain that fell during the 1993 monsoon was just .2 of an inch, according to the National Weather Service.
