PHOENIX — Monsoon storms across the western part of Maricopa County dropped heavy rain west of Phoenix Monday night. The National Weather Service in Phoenix said strong winds and hail up to one inch in diameter were the main threats of these storms.
The rain created flooding issues as storms moved through the west Valley. The storms weakened as they moved east, so Phoenix and the East Valley got some much-needed rain without the flooding.
A flash flood warning including Buckeye was in effect until midnight. A severe thunderstorm warning for Avondale, Goodyear, and Buckeye expired at 8:30 p.m.
