Yuma breaks daily rain record as widespread rain came through Arizona

Monday and Tuesday will have the greatest potential for showers statewide.

PHOENIX — Wet weather rolled through Arizona on Monday.

Rain in the Valley is forecasted to be between .50-.75 inches on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Phoenix picked up about .15 inches of rain.

10:00 p.m. 

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport received .15 inches of rain as of 10 p.m., the NWS said. 

8:00 p.m. 

Dry air is moving in behind the rain "which is causing an abrupt end to the rainfall activity west of Buckeye," the National Weather Service said. The dry air may prevent showers from continuing to develop over the next few hours. Most of the Valley is still seeing light to moderate rainfall. 

7:20 p.m.

A 12News viewer sent in a video of heavy rain falling near Guadalupe Road and Hardy Drive in Tempe. The rain is expected to stick around late Monday night into Tuesday morning. 

7:15 p.m. 

Areas across the Valley have received between .05 and .10 inches of rain Monday. Light rain has fallen for most of the last hour but a heavier band of rain near the  I-8 corridor and Gila Bend area is dropping heavier amounts. 

6:00 p.m.

Yuma broke a daily rainfall record on Monday. 1.06 inches of rain has fallen, which broke the record of .50 inches back in 1915. 

5:30 p.m. 

Widespread rain is now moving into the Valley. The rain will expand in coverage and become even more widespread after sunset. 

4:30 p.m.

A Flood Advisory is in effect for portions of far southwest Arizona. Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is causing minor flooding of streets and small streams. The advisory ends at 6:30 p.m. and affects southwest La Paz and west Yuma counties.

3:30 p.m.

Moderate rainfall will begin in Phoenix between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., with isolated storms possible after 6 p.m. This could cause longer than normal commutes, slick roads with ponding, and flowing water in low drainage areas.

3:00 p.m.

Yuma and Blythe could see rainfall rates of .50-.75 inches as heavier rain moves into Arizona. Minor street flooding is possible, according to the NWS. 

2:30 p.m.

Rain that is falling in California is expected to continue moving through Arizona as the day progresses. The NWS forecasts that most of the rain in Phoenix will fall Monday night through Tuesday morning. 

8:00 a.m. - Phoenix is now forecasted to get anywhere from 1" to 1.5" of rain between Monday and Tuesday. NWS Phoenix provided an updated look at predicted rainfall totals around the Valley:

6:00 a.m. - Fog and light showers have developed around the Valley this morning. NWS Phoenix expects the weather to clear up a bit by 9 to 10 a.m.

5:45 a.m. - Rain and snow is moving into the state from the west. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place through 8 a.m. 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected above 6,500 feet, 4-8 inches will fall above 7,500 feet and 8-12 inches above 8,000 feet. 

Don't be surprised if you don't get any sun today. Showers will be happening on and off throughout the Valley.

9:30 p.m. - NWS reports light showers moving across the northern part of the state.

8:50 p.m. - The Phoenix Metro area is expected to see more rain on Monday.

5:50 p.m. - Sky Harbor has recorded 0.03 inches of rain as of 5 p.m.

5:45 p.m. - Showers continue to move across northern Arizona this evening.

3:00 p.m. - The National Weather Service said a line of showers moved through the Valley late Sunday morning

2:00 p.m. - NWS said the High Country could see some slick spots on roads as the sun goes down Sunday evening.
