The highway shoulder is 'snow' place for winter weather play, ADOT says

With plenty of snow in northern Arizona, the Arizona Department of Transportation wants to make sure you're safe — and using the "good snow."

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — "Also, that's not even the good snow."

The Arizona Department of Transportation is reminding Arizonans that even if snow play on the highway looks fun, it is dangerous. Plus, it's not the good snow, anyway.

A tweet from ADOT on "X", formerly known as Twitter, shows people pulled over the shoulder of a highway enjoying the snow. While it may look like fun, ADOT says playing on the highway shoulder is dangerous.

"Don't be like these people. Highway shoulders are NOT for snow play!" the tweet said.

Instead of enjoying the plentiful snow Northern  Arizona received in the last few days on the highway, ADOT recommends going to a designated snow play area. A few locations near Flagstaff include Flagstaff Snow Park, Happy Jack Lodge and Flagstaff city parks.
