ASH FORK, Ariz. — As a winter storm moves through the High Country, travel has become treacherous.
I-40 eastbound temporarily closed due to weather-related crashes and slide-offs between US 93 and Ash Fork, according to ADOT. The roadway reopened Thursday morning.
The westbound lanes were closed near Williams but have since reopened, ADOT said.
"Drivers who choose to travel on roadways when winter driving conditions are present should be prepared to spend extended time on the road," a statement from ADOT said. "You should avoid traveling in winter weather to avoid situations where highways are impassable for long periods of time."
ADOT recommends always having a travel emergency kit and tracking the forecast before hitting the roads.
